Beza Organizing Association of Women in Need( BOAWN )

Beza Organizing Association of Women in Need (BOAWN) was established in 1997. When it established at first was one of the well-known national civil society organizations engaged in women’s capacity building and education. It was founded in 1997 by a group of five like-minded individuals who were committed to contribute to national efforts of creating economically self-sufficient, informed and responsible citizenry for upholding democratic values and culture. It is a non-for profit, non-partisan secular civic non-governmental organization.

   As the name indicates, BOAWN established to play crucial role in realizing gender equality in the country based on the belief that building the capacity of women, flourish, and sustain by citizens who have the requisite knowledge, skill and dispositions.  To this end, BOAWN’s founders committed themselves to undertake civic and advocacy activities being conscious about a free and open society which is aware of its rights and obligations as a citizen. That is, a free and open society can succeed if and only if a reasoned commitment on the part of its citizens to the fundamental values and principles of women capacity are upheld

Governance

BOAWN has a General Assembly, the supreme organ of the charity consisting of founding members and other regular members, to oversee and deal with all policy issues. It has also a Board of Directors to decide on major program and administrative matters and guide its operations. There is also a management committee consisting of department heads and chaired by the Executive Director to deal and execute day to day administrative and managerial matters.
     The Executive Director responsible to the Board of Directors is entrusted with the main task of overseeing and implementing decisions passed by the General Assembly and Board of Directors. He/ She also manage the day-to-day activities and operations of the charity. The charity has three major departments, namely Administration, Finance and programs each of them with their own subsections. The community we work with, the circumstances we are working in and deepness of the discrimination based on gender, ethnic, religion, norms and wealth. So, it requires in the target community justice and fairness, impartiality in the process of program implementation.

Our Mission

  • Guided by its Development Strategic Plan and Management, BOAWN has the mission to improve the livelihood, health, awareness, equal opportunity for services without any discrimination, and poverty situations of the project areas community by:
  • . Working for the fullest realization of social, cultural, and economic inclusion and development of women, girls, children, elders and the youth through researching, organizing sensitization forums, provision of skills development and capacity building opportunities in close collaboration with civil society institutions.
  • . Specializing in housing program, laundry, babysitting, printing and other previous skills of BOAWN.
  • .working on supporting and caring for children, youth, disabilities, women and elders;
  • . Accessing the target community to quality education services,
  • . Accessing the target community to quality health services,
  • . Implementing environment protection projects that enables us combat climate change related harmful consequences, and
  • . Contributing to the national development by working on poverty eradication on the basis of the country’s long-term development plan.
